Setbacks

Setbacks are a natural part of the chemotherapy experience. Not every day is a good one. Not every day is going to be progressive. There are times when our body doesn’t respond well to the medications. We take a few steps back and try again.

Setbacks are not failure, though. Setbacks give us a chance to re-evaluate treatment, make improvements, and chart a new path forward. While setbacks are never fun, they ultimately lead us forward to something better.

We don’t have to “handle” this. Stop, let someone else take charge for a while. Trust your care team and your support team. When a setback hits, that’s the time to let others help. You don’t have to do everything yourself.

We don’t always feel as though treatment is going well, but we’ve got this. All of us.
