sunshine for the sadness

Sad days are a reality for a lot of people, even if they’re not on chemo. For chemo patients, though, they sometimes hit hard. Feelings of hopelessness, struggling with the side effects of the medicine, fear that these problems will never go away, all mix together and compound the feelings of sadness.

We’re here to tell you that it’s okay to feel sad.

Sad days are part of the chemotherapy normality. We know they’re going to come and we can take steps to make them easier. For some, it’s a matter of finding something distracting, like a book or a movie. For others, having a friend to talk to makes all the difference.

In severe cases, medication may be possible, but be aware that your chemo regimen may limit your doctor’s choices. As always, do not take any medication without consulting your doctor first.

We all feel sad and finding what helps is important. This time of year, walks outside are not always an option, but sunshine is coming! Take hope, things will get better!
