A recent article in LiveScience says that a massive black hole, the size of 20 million suns, is “ejecting” new stars in its wake. Black holes are often thought of as a form of “cosmic death,” what gets swallowed is gone forever. New stars, on the other hand, are a symbol of new life.

Chemotherapy is kind of like a black hole. Everyone’s experience is different and we go into it not knowing if/how we will survive. What we once knew as “normal” no longer exists.

As we emerge from treatment, however, we become like “new” stars, a fresh perspective on life and how to live it. We make adjustments to better our lives and collect around us the friends, family, and resources that compose our “solar system.”

Chemo can be an incredible struggle, but what we get is a new chance at an incredible life. Make the most of it!

A new day
